Pye was a Nomai operating the High Energy Labs along with her lab partner Ramie, and studied anglerfish in the Sunless City on Ember Twin. She was referred to by Laevi and Lami as "Aunt Pye", though it is unclear whether this refers to familial relationship or is merely an expression of closeness.
After Poke discovered the discrepant readings from the White Hole Station, Pye and Ramie went to the High Energy Lab to attempt to recreate the phenomena. While Ramie believed that there was time warping going on, Pye remained convinced that it was a measuring error in their equipment that was causing the negative difference between arrival and departure times. After rerouting power fom the Sunless City to the Lab, they were able to recreate the experiment on a larger scale, proving that the holes were warping objects before they actually went through, much to the excitement of both scientists. This prompted the Nomai at the Southern Observatory to ask if this could be expanded to form a 22-minute jump, which became the Ash Twin Project.
Pye argued for the construction of the Sun Station and worked with Idaea there. After it failed to fire and the Ash Twin Project was put on indefinite hiatus, Pye, together with Poke and Clary, embarked on the mission to explore the Interloper, which had entered the Solar System. She and Poke exited the shuttle after landing, while Clary stayed behind to prevent the shuttle from freezing.
When the two Nomai ventured inside the core of the Interloper and found a rock filled with pressurized ghost matter, they realized it could burst when the Interloper came close to the sun, which would blanket the Solar System in the deadly matter. Pye stayed behind to learn as much as possible, and urged Poke to escape to warn the rest of the Nomai of the danger. Immediately after, however, the core apparently ruptured.
