The Endless Canyon is a location on The Stranger, located inside of The Simulation. It contains a cliff and a candlelit lodge on opposite sides of a canyon with a river running through it. Access to the rest of the simulation is provided by a raft on the river.

Features[]

The Endless Canyon is made up of two main parts. The first part is a cliff which contains the tower where the player can enter the Canyon. The second part is the lodge on the other side of the river. The parts are connected by a bridge that can be lit up on the cliff and two other hidden bridges only visible by leaving the range of the lit artifact.

The Cliff[]

The cliff is where the player first enters the Endless Canyon. Taking the path to the right once outside of the tower leads to an area where you can light up a bridge to get to the other side.

At the top of the tower on the cliff, the player can walk through the second painting to the right of the exit to quickly get to an area where the lights of the lodge can be snuffed out. This causes The Stranger’s inhabitants to appear in the lodge. This is required in order to reach the forbidden archive, as extinguishing the lights makes the mural disappear. There is also a hidden bridge nearby that can be used to reach an area to the left of the lodge.

Past the place where you can light up the bridge there is another hidden bridge connecting to a lower platform. This platform leads to the elevator that goes to the dock, where the raft is located. Next to the elevator is also a path leading to the right side of the lodge, providing a quicker and safer alternative to reach the archive rather than going through the entire lodge while the inhabitants are present.

The Candlelit Lodge[]

At the entrance to the lodge from the main bridge there is a staircase. Going upstairs, to the end of the hallway, and then to the right leads you to the hidden bridge that goes to the place where you can snuff out the lights. Going downstairs leads you to a gap in the railing. A bridge can be lit up in this gap from the other side of the lodge, allowing access to the third Forbidden Archive and the raft.

The other side of the lodge where you can light the interior bridge can be accessed by continuing to go downstairs and focusing the artifact on a hand-shaped totem. This leads to a garden area. If the lights are on you can see one of The Stranger’s inhabitants watching a slide reel in an inaccessible room. If the lights are off then there will be an Inhabitant blocking a bridge, but you will be able to enter the room to go around them. Past there and going all the way up another staircase leads to a large room. If the lights are extinguished an inhabitant will be present. At the end of this room you can light up the bridge in the gap. You then have to have to make your way back to the entrance of the large room and take a right to reach another hand-looking totem you can use to get back to the side of the lodge with the bridge. You can then go down to the bottom floor of the lodge. If the lights are on, there will be a mural of the Stranger’s homeworld. If the lights are off, there will be an inhabitant and a third hidden bridge leading to the third Forbidden Archive.

If the lights in the lodge are extinguished after the bridge inside the lodge has been lit then the bridge will also be extinguished. Therefore the bridge has to be lit while the lights are snuffed.

The Art Room[]

Opposite the entrance to the forbidden archive on the bottom floor of the lodge there is a door. If the lights have been extinguished the door will be open, but guarded by an inhabitant. After getting past the guard and going downstairs you can find a room with different paintings and portraits. You can walk through one of the walls and inside find a portrait of a strange looking Inhabitant or a different alien species with lasers in the background.

History[]

Unlike in the Shrouded Woodlands and the Starlit Cove the Endless Canyon is not affected by the dam bursting as the entrance is too high to be impacted by the wave.

Trivia[]

  • There is a way to get on the roof of the lodge by jumping over a railing at the very top. Once at the top there will be a candle. If it is lit the candle will transform into a Korok from The Legend of Zelda, playing the famous “Yahaha” sound from Breath of the Wild along with a very obnoxious version of Elegy of the Rings on a recorder. This also awards the achievement “1 / 900”.
