Our first step would be determining a method to track this phantom moon so that we can always know where it is.
~ Bur

Bur was a Nomai from the Vessel who landed on Ember Twin with Escape Pod 2.[1]

Escape Pod 2

Upon landing on Ember Twin, Annona asked if Bur could find the other escape pods' distress signals.[2] Bur heard both signals somewhere in the star system but did not believe that they crashed on Ember Twin as well.[3]

Life on Ember Twin

Bur was an admirer of the Quantum Moon, wondering where it disappeared to when it was not orbiting Ember Twin.[4] They helped build the Quantum Moon locator, noting that sometimes the locator could not tell where the Quantum Moon was.[5] They thought that perhaps there was a problem with the device, but Melorae proposed the idea that perhaps there was a Sixth location that the moon travels to.[6]

At one point they traveled from their home in the Sunless City to help Melorae search for the missing Coleus.[7]

Trivia

  • A bur is a seed with hooks on the exterior, to catch on the fur of passing animals.

  1. ANNONA: This is a relief, at least. You have my gratitude. Bur, were you able to find the other escape pods’ distress signals? BUR: I can hear both signals somewhere in this star system, but I don’t believe either escape pod crashed on the same planet as us.

  3. BUR: I can hear both signals somewhere in this star system, but I don’t believe either escape pod crashed on the same planet as us.
  4. BUR: I found your note, Melorae; kindly count me among this moon’s admirers! What is happening when it disappears (I doubt it ceases to exist)? Does it move to another location?
  5. BUR: I agree! Our first step would be determining a method to track this phantom moon so that we can always know where it is.
  6. BUR: I thought the locator now accounted for all of the phantom moon’s locations, but sometimes the locator can’t tell where the moon is. Perhaps there’s a problem with the device? MELORAE: It’s also possible there exists a sixth place in this star system to which the phantom moon travels.
  7. BUR: Melorae, some of us from the Sunless City are here to help search for Coleus. Can you tell us more about your expedition?
